SDI

SDI (Storage Device Interconnect) was DEC's high-performance intelligent disk interface used primarily with the RA-series storage systems. Unlike simpler controller designs, SDI drives contained significant onboard intelligence and communicated with host controllers such as the UDA50 and KDA50 using higher-level protocols. SDI formed the basis of many enterprise-class VAX storage systems during the 1980s.
