SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) became DEC's preferred storage interconnect during the late 1980s and early 1990s, particularly on DECstations, VAXstations, and later MicroVAX systems. Unlike earlier DEC-specific buses, SCSI was an industry-standard interface supporting disks, tapes, CD-ROM drives, and removable media from many vendors. DEC rebadged many standard SCSI devices under the RZ, TZ, TKZ, and TLZ product families.
