About this site

Welcome!

Hi, I'm Paul.

I'm a software engineer who spends most of his time writing Go, C, C++, and occasionally Lisp when I feel like being civilised.

Before that I was a Unix systems administrator, which probably explains why I care far too much about how things actually work under the hood.

I have a particular weakness for older systems--VAXen, weird Unix variants, terminal gear, all that good stuff. There's something satisfying about software that was written with tight constraints and still manages to be clean, fast, and understandable.

What is this site?

I originally created this site as a repository for various information related to the NeXTSTEP and OPENSTEP operating systems, but have since decided to expand it to cover just about anything else that I'm interested in--from Unix documentation to information on video terminals.

Vitals

For those interested, here are the vital statistics:

  • Operating System: GNU/Linux.
  • Web Server: nginx or something.
  • CPU: Yes.
  • Disks: Apparently.
  • Memory: Probably.
